Mr. Caborn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what developments are already commissioned in the area covered by the Sheffield urban development corporation and what is their total development cost.

Mr. Trippier

The Coopers and Lybrand report identified a number of proposals in the area of the proposed urban development corporation which it estimates could bring about £300 million investment into the lower Don valley.

Mr. Caborn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many planning applications were received by Sheffield local authority in each of the last two years in the area covered by the urban development corporation; how many were rejected; and what was the average time for receiving planning permission in rejection.

The information requested is not available as statistics on development control are not collected centrally for areas smaller than local planning authorities.
