HC Deb 13 April 1988 vol 131 c180W
Mr. Robin Cook

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list those district health authorities which have received money from the extra allocation of £10 million for the treatment of AIDS announced by him on 16 December,Official Report, column 1094; and what monitoring arrangements he has made to ensure that these moneys are spent efficiently and specifically on AIDS patients.

Mr. Newton

The £10 million allocated in December 1987 was an additional recognition of the particular pressures faced by three of the Thames regional health authorities in providing services for people with HIV infection and AIDS during 1987/88. The money was allocated as follows: £6 million to North-West Thames, £2.5 million to North-East Thames and £1.5 million to South-East Thames. These authorities will be asked to account for their total expenditure on AIDS-related services as part of the usual health authority planning and outturn procedures.
