§ Mr. DunnachieTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has on(a) the incidence of the use of gaming machines by minors and (b) the installation of gaming machines in premises providing easy access to minors.
§ Mr. John PattenWe have some information about the use of amusement machines by young people. We are394W interested in obtaining clear evidence and that is why my right hon. Friend announced research into this subject on 6 May. There is no statutory prohibition on young people entering many of the premises including amusement arcades which have these machines. When we have the results of the research we shall be in a better position to judge whether it is necessary or desirable to introduce fresh legislation.
