§ Mr. ButcherThere has been a significant growth in competition in the United Kingdom. Competition exists at the network level following the licensing of Mercury Communications Ltd. and the two cellular radio operators. Value added and data services provided over the network have been completely liberalised. The level of competition in the home markets of other member states of the Community is described in the European Commission's Green Paper on the development of the common market for telecommunications services and equipment (COM(87)(29) final) a copy of which has been placed in the Library.
