§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe Metropolitan police began wheelclamping on 16 May 1983. On 1 December 1986 they contracted out the physical work associated with wheelclamping. The table below shows the number of vehicles wheelclamped by the Metropolitan police in each year up to contracting out, and the number clamped since contracting out was introduced:
