§ Mr. FreemanSince 1 January 1979, 156 British service personnel have lost their lives in military aircraft accidents during routine operations. In these accidents, 242 aircraft suffered irreparable damage. The costs of these aircraft, at the time of their purchase, is estimated to have been some £580 million.
