Full carriageway closures are usually associated with major renewal works carried out under contraflow. These take place mostly between March and November. There is often then a break until the following year's programme.
Many minor works and repairs are still essential throughout the year if the motorway is to he kept in good condition. Most will require at least single lane closures to protect road users and working people.
