§ 94. Mr. HardyTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what further action he proposes to take to discourage those sales of armaments which are likely to he directed to either Iran or Iraq.
§ Mr. MellorOur policy on defence sales to Iran and Iraq is already one of the strictest of any country, and there are no plans at the present time to introduce further measures. Exports of defence-related equipment are subject to stringent export licensing procedures to ensure they do not contravene the special ministerial guidelines announced in the House on 25 October 1985. We would take a very serious view of any activities in breach of those guidelines.
