§ Mr. McAllionTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has of the total annual running cost to local authorities in Scotland of administering the new community charge in 1987–88.
§ Mr. LangThe community charge system will come into full operation in 1989–90. We estimate that, in that year, the additional administrative expenditure will be in the range £17 million to £22 million.
