HL Deb 16 November 1987 vol 490 cc75-6WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the balance of trade with New Zealand in 1986–87, showing exports and invisible receipts separately.

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (Lord Young of Graffham)

The visible trade balance between the United Kingdom and New Zealand was a deficit of £113 million for the year 1986 and a deficit of £95 million for the first nine months of 1987. Visible exports in 1986 were £343 million, and £281 million for the first nine months of 1987. Comprehensive comparable figures on the balance of invisible trade with New Zealand are not available.
