To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people in the Glasgow, Central area

received financial assistance to attend interviews on Manpower Services Commission-sponsored schemes in the past 12 months; and what proportion of total applicants for such finance this represents.

The information requested is not available in the form requested. However, during the 12 months to end October 1987, 9,518 payments were made to people in the Dundee jobcentre area attending interviews about Manpower Service Commission employment and training schemes.
