To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much has been paid in(a) regional development grants and (b) regional selective assistance in Fife in 1986–87 and so far in 1987–88.

Payments of RSA to firms in Fife in 1986–87 and in the period April to October 1987 totalled £6.2 million and £1.7 million respectively. Information on old RDG is available only in respect of payments of over £25,000 in the Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline, Cupar, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, St. Andrews and Leven and Methil local employment office areas. Such payments of RDG totalled £28.2 million in 1986–87 and £3.4 million in the period April to September 1987. Under new RDG, payments of over £25,000 in Fife totalled £0.1 million in 1986–87, and there have been no such payments so far this year.
