HC Deb 12 November 1987 vol 122 cc207-8W
Mr. Bernie Grant

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many complaints of racial discrimination have been received from black prisoners in the United Kingdom and if he will give a statistical breakdown of the complaints received at each prison.

Mr. Hurd

Formal procedures exist for the airing by prisoners of complaints about aspects of their treatment including alleged racial discrimination, and for their investigation, but no central record of complaints is kept.
