§ Mr. StrangTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food which countries have been granted licences for the import of poultry into the United Kingdom in the last year.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonGeneral import licences exist for the importation into the United Kingdom of live poultry from the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Imports from elsewhere must comply with animal health conditions agreed between Her Majesty's Government and the authorities of the country of origin, and enter the United Kingdom under specific licences issued to individual importers. In the last year, during which no new agreements on animal health conditions have been reached with any country, specific licences have been issued for imports from Canada, Denmark, France, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States of America.
