HC Deb 12 November 1987 vol 122 c237W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is taking steps to ensure that travel companies should be required to include in the description and specifications of holiday hotels and resorts details of the noise pollution levels of each hotel advertised, details of adjacent noise levels from neighbouring hotels and of noise enforcement practices operated by the local authorities; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maude

I have been asked to reply.

The content of holiday promotional material is already subject to the requirements of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968, to the British code of advertising practice and to the relevant provisions of the tour operators' code of conduct administered by the Association of British Travels Agents. There are no plans to introduce specific requirements for disclosure of noise levels in hotels or at resorts.
