HC Deb 10 November 1987 vol 122 c168W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what information is given to local residents when top soil, taken from an area where there was a nuclear accident response exercise, is deposited in the vicinity; and what tests are made of the radioactive level of the soil;

(2) if he will invite representatives of local residents to inspect sites where nuclear accident response exercises a re carried out; and if he will give them the opportunity to he told of the safety measures taken.

Mr. Ian Stewart

I refer the right hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent, North (Ms. Walley) on 4 November, at column748. In view of the stringent precautions taken, I see no valid reason for the suggested inspection of locations where nuclear accident response exercises take place.
