HC Deb 04 November 1987 vol 121 c703W
Mr. Hood

asked the Prime Minister what assessment she has made of the advantages likely to accrue from the removal of all customs barriers on trade between the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Economic Community by 1992.

The Prime Minister

Customs barriers add to the costs of exporting and hinder the development of trade with the rest of the European Community. Tackling them and other barriers will increase opportunities for British business by creating a single market of 320 million people.
