§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will construct for Scotland a table in the same form as figure J7 in Cmnd. 9714, "Paying For Local Government," showing numbers of adults living in each of the households gaining and losing with full replacement of domestic rates by the community charge;
(2) if he will reproduce for Scotland figure J7 of Cmnd. 9714, "Paying For Local Government," showing households gaining and losing with full replacement of domestic rates by (a) local authority and (b) parliamentary constituency.
§ Mr. LangThe estimated number of households in Scotland gaining and losing from the community charge is given below. The figures are based on 1985–86 data and are derived from a sample survey of approximately 1,800 Scottish households. The actual level of community charge in each area will depend on the spending of the local authority and decisions on grant distribution which are still to be taken. A further disaggregation of these figures by household type, local authority and parliamentary constituency cannot be given because of the size of the sample.
