§ Rev. Martin Smythasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has considered an independent review of the quality and standard of O-level examinations in England and Wales; and if he will publish in the Official Report a list of all those subjects approved for examination at O-level and the year they were introduced.
§ Mrs. RumboldMy right hon. Friend has no plans for such a review of O-level examinations, which from summer 1988 will be replaced by general certificate of secondary education examinations. Records of the O-level syllabuses currently available from the eight GCE boards in England and Wales are not held centrally. I will write to the hon. Member on this matter.
