HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c499W
Rev. Martin Smyth

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has considered an independent review of the quality and standard of O-level examinations in England and Wales; and if he will publish in the Official Report a list of all those subjects approved for examination at O-level and the year they were introduced.

Mrs. Rumbold

My right hon. Friend has no plans for such a review of O-level examinations, which from summer 1988 will be replaced by general certificate of secondary education examinations. Records of the O-level syllabuses currently available from the eight GCE boards in England and Wales are not held centrally. I will write to the hon. Member on this matter.
