HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c525W
19. Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what representations he has received regarding the privatisation of the electricity supply industry.

32. Mr. Nellist

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what representations he has received regarding his plans for the privatisation of electricity.

Mr. Cecil Parkinson

I have received representations from electricity consumers, unions, other nationalised industries and members of the public and will take these into account when considering the proposals for the privatisation of the industry.

23. Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make it his policy to ensure that, in any future plans for privatisation of the electricity supply industry, the maintenance of a national grid is a statutory requirement; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Parkinson

We are developing our proposals for the privatisation of the electricity supply industry; these do not envisage the breaking up of the national grid.
