§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe main provisions of the Act have been in force since 12 January 1987. Information about the numbers and value of confiscation orders made under section 1 is being collected centrally, and will be published in the criminal statistics for 1987. In addition, I understand that the High Court, by 27 October, had made 122 restraint or charging orders under sections 8 and 9 of the Act. The precise value of property affected by restraint and charging orders cannot readily be identified: a restraint order may affect the whole of a person's property, and the value of the property may not have been determined at that stage.
