§ The Prime MinisterSince 1979 the Scottish Development Agency has become widely accepted as one of the most effective development agencies in Europe. The agency is committed to working with the grain of the market, encouraging entrepreneurship and private sector initiatives. This approach to economic development is fully in line with the Government's philosophy, and it will continue of offer substantial benefits for Scotland. The work of the agency was commended by the review carried out and published last year. A copy of the report was placed in the Library.
