asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will now give an update to the latest date for which figures are currently available of the details of all serious accidents which have occurred in the coal industry for the year 1986–87 broken down according to coalfield areas.

Final year figures for serious accidents in 1986–87 are not yet available. I therefore have nothing further to add to the answer I gave the hon. Gentleman on 12 March,Official Report, columns 281–282.
