HC Deb 01 May 1987 vol 115 c250W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what action his Department takes to monitor the carriage of dangerous chemicals by road within the United Kingdom; and how many breaches of the relevant regulations have been drawn to his attention in each of the past four years for which statistics are available.

Mr. Moore

Responsibility for enforcing the regulations on the carriage of dangerous substances by road rests with the Health and Safety Executive. It is supported in this by the police and by my Department's traffic examiners, who carry out checks on vehicles carrying out dangerous substances from time to time.

There is no central record of offences.
