What progress has been made in the payment of severe weather additions to people on supplementary benefit; how much has been paid to date this winter and how many claims have been refused.

Up to 10th February 1987, the latest date for which figures are available, the estimated total number of £5 payments made was approximately 1.6 million and the amount paid approximately £8 million. About 265,000 payments were refused.
