HC Deb 23 March 1987 vol 113 c13W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he issued a licence for the spoil ground in the Salcombe estuary and for what period.

Mr. Michael Spicer

A consent under section 34(1)(b) of the Coast Protection Act 1949 was first issued to the local district council to deposit material in the deep channel at Salcombe in 1969. This consent, which is concerned with safety of navigation, has been renewed at regular intervals, the last occasion being in February 1987 for a further period of three years.

My right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, has also separately licensed these deposits under the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985, the last renewal being on 6 March 1987 for one year.
