§ Mrs. RumboldIn April 1983, my Department published the report of a study by a group of teachers of the impact of television on pupils and of the values it conveyed. The report expressed concern about the cumulative effect on young people of the frequent presentation of violence, while accepting that research evidence was inconclusive.
