asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans for a seal cull in the next year.

No. It was announced in May 1985 that there would be no culling of grey seals in Scotland until further notice. A further programme of research into the interaction of grey seals and fisheries is in hand, and the need for grey seal management will be reviewed in the light of the results of this research which is likely to take some time to complete.
