§ Mrs. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement about the 358W conditions in which women on remand are being held in the cells of magistrates courts in the Metropolitan police area.
§ Mr. MellorWe are conscious that court cells are not designed to hold prisoners for more than a few hours and that the facilities there leave much to be desired. The police, however, are doing all they can under difficult circumstances to provide the best possible conditions.
