§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Prime Minister if she will make it her policy to initiate direct negotiations on outstanding verification problems for a comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty during her visit to the Soviet Union later this month.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Government have repeatedly urged the establishment of an ad hoc committee at the conference on disarmament in Geneva which would discuss verification and other outstanding issues connected with a comprehensive test ban treaty. Negotiations would be premature until progress has been made on resolving these issues.
