§ Mr. Newton[pursuant to his reply, 9 March 1987, c. 71]: The average total cost per prescription for prescriptions dispensed during the month of July 1986 was £5.15. No 305W maximum cost is imposed on prescriptions and an individual prescription item may cost several thousand pounds; the most expensive item dispensed in July 1986 cost £6,416.10.
