Friend's policy that there should be ample opportunity for all interested parties, including the local planning authority and local residents, to make their views known before planning permission is given for a disposal facility for nuclear waste. We have already announced that any planning application from UK Nirex Ltd. for a facility at any of the four sites currently under investigation as a possible site for a disposal facility for low level waste will be called in for my right hon. Friend's own determination, so that there will be a public inquiry under an independent inspector.
