HC Deb 09 March 1987 vol 112 c26W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Prime Minister what assessment she has made of the effects of Government policies since 1979 on (a) the south east region and (b) East Anglia.

The Prime Minister

The south-east and East Anglia are among the fastest growing parts of the country. Like all regions, they have benefited from the Government's commitment to prudent and sound financial policies, and to creating a climate within which industry and commerce can prosper and flourish.

I also refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Crawley (Mr. Soames) on 19 February at columns 801–7.
