§ Dr. Godmanasked the Solicitor-General for Scotland when he last reviewed the policy on prosecution of child sexual abuse cases.
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandProsecutions in respect of offences involving the sexual abuse of children are afforded a high priority in Scotland and every effort is made to ensure that proceedings are instituted expeditiously and handled in such a way as to minimise the inevitable traumatic effects upon the children involved. In addition, procurators fiscal are instructed to maintain contact with other agencies concerned with the safety and welfare of the children and, in particular, with the reporter to the children's panel, with whom the fiscal has a close working relationship.
