HC Deb 26 June 1987 vol 118 c1W
Miss Fookes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the outcome of the latest meeting of the European Community Budget Council.

Mr. Brooke

The Budget Council met on 2 June in Luxembourg. I represented the United Kingdom.

The Council discussed the Commission's preliminary draft supplementary and amending budget for 1987. I made it clear that there was no question of additional resources being provided for the Community in 1987 and that ways must be found of reducing expenditure.

The Council adjourned without reaching agreement.
