HC Deb 24 July 1987 vol 120 cc607-8W
Mr. Ground

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of the night flying at Heathrow and Gatwick. respectively, for 1985 and 1986 summer and winter seasons, met ICAO Chapter 3 Regulations.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Department does not have such information. The relevant airport companies could produce it only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Ground

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of night flying at Heathrow and Gatwick is composed of (a) charter and (b) scheduled aircraft movements.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Department does not keep such records for the night restrictions period. I understand that at Heathrow there are very few chartered passenger flights at night. For Gatwick the table shows approximate figures provided by the airport scheduling committee for passenger flights at night in 1986.

Chartered Scheduled
per cent. per cent.
Summer 90 10
Winter 45 55
