Mr. Clay

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the latest figure for expenditure per pupil on books and on equipment in (a) primary schools, (b) secondary schools and (c) special schools; and what are the comparable figures for each of the years since 1978–79, in cash terms and real terms using 1986–87 prices and using an index of 100 for 1978–79.
