§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if his Department monitors the certification standards of foreign authorities granting certificates to civil air transport aircraft which come on to the British register; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he is satisfied that the certification standards of foreign authorities for aircraft coming on to the British register are comparable with those required in Britain to obtain a British civil airworthiness certificate; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleySafety regulation of civil air transport is a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority. The Department does not monitor either the standard it applies or the standards applied by foreign authorities.
