HL Deb 21 July 1987 vol 488 c1374WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What discussions they have had with the CEGB as to whether the limestone/gypsum process or the wellman/Lord process is to be used in the flue gas desulphurisation plant to be installed at Drax power station?

Viscount Davidson

There have been discussions with the CEGB about process requirements. However, choice of the flue desulphurisation process most suitable for installation at Drax power station is the responsibility of the CEGB, which is assessing a number of commercially available technologies. When the board has made its choice it will make an application for the Secretary of State for Energy's consent.
