§ Sir John Farrasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the cost of paying the latest increase in United Kingdom pensions in a full year to British pensioners in Canada.
§ Mr. ScottThe latest annual figures available are based on November 1985 rates. The increases in pensions paid in July 1986 and April 1987 are not based on a full year and are therefore unrepresentative.
Nevertheless, we are hoping to carry out an exercise in the next few months to estimate the cost of paying the April 1987 increase to pensioners in Canada and I shall let my hon. Friend have a further reply as soon as the figures are available.
