HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c13W
Mr. Gwilym Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement about the Government's plans to provide for more open enrolment to schools.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

I am today publishing in Wales a consultation document seeking views on the Government's proposal to legislate to change the present arrangement for admissions to schools so that local education authorities and governing bodies would be required to admit pupils up to the limit of that school's available capacity. I have asked for comments to be submitted by 16 September. Copies of the document have been placed in the Library of the House.
