HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c1W
Mr. Latham

asked the Prime Minister whether she will make a statement on her most recent discussions with His Majesty King Hussein regarding a possible international conference on the dispute between the state of Israel and its Arab neighbours; and what estimate she has made of the willingness of other permanent members of the Security Council to support such a proposal.

The Prime Minister

King Hussein and I agreed that an international conference remains the best way to make progress and that it is important not to miss the present opportunity to take a step forward.

The United Nations Secretary General is continuing his informal consultations with the parties and the permanent members of the Security Council on the conference proposal.
