HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c5W
Mr. Leighton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the take-up of jobstart in the London borough of Newham.

Mr. Lee

The information is not available in the form requested. Between 1 July 1986 and 26 June 1987, 31 applications for the jobstart allowance were accepted by the East Ham restart team which covers the boroughs of Newham, Barking, Dagenham and until October 1986, Tower Hamlets. Nationally there have been 12,666 accepted applications since the scheme began and take-up is currently running at around 400 weekly.
