§ Mr. Tom Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when appointments will be made to the Scottish Committee of the Universities Funding Council; and if he will seek nominations from representative groups of Scottish opinion.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythIt will only be possible to make appointments after the Universities Funding Council has been established, which the Government propose to do by legislation to be introduced during the current session. Appointments to the committee will be a matter for the council, in consultation with my right hon. and learned Friend. We envisage that the committee will include members in individual rather than representative capacities.
