§ Mr. Boatengasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what research his Department has carried out on the level of commitment on the part of (a) council tenants, (b) owner-occupiers and (c) private tenants to their property and as to how such a commitment is reflected in the physical condition of their property.
§ Mr. WaldegraveInformation on the physical condition of housing, occupants' views about their housing and their intended action come from the "English house condition survey". This is a quinquennial survey conducted by the Department of the Environment.
The 1981 survey showed the following breakdown of physical condition by tenure.
