§ Mr. ButcherMy Department is continuing the active role it has taken in support of the United Kingdom bid. Future arrangements for the action group may need to take account of any new developments in Brussels and will be considered in the near future.

§ Mr. ButcherThe Prime Minister told the House on 2 July that the Government are backing their bid with generous financial support. This would, of course, be subject to parliamentary approval, which would be sought at an appropriate time.
