§ The Prime MinisterThe Government became aware, in a general sense, of the BBC's plan for one or more programmes in the summer of 1986; and of the intention to include specific material on a secret defence project in October 1986. Discussions then took place between the Government and the BBC, which subsequently decided on grounds of national security not to show the material on the project.
