§ Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will republish the figures in Statistical Bulletin 16/86 on international statistical comparison of the participation in education and care of three to six-year-olds, using the definitions normally used in the United Kingdom for pre-school education and care.
§ Mr. DunnThe figures in "Statistical Bulletin 16/86", for three to four-year-olds, also given in my answer of 12 January to the hon. Member for Lewes (Mr. Rathbone), at column 30, are on the basis usually used for pre-school education in the United Kingdom except that a very small number of two-year-olds (usually included) have been excluded for consistency with other countries. If included they would add one percentage point to the 43 per cent. quoted in the statistical bulletin.
