§ Mr. Alan ClarkAt the beginning of the United Kingdom presidency there were several trade disputes outstanding between the United States and the Community: more have since arisen through measures taken in the autumn by the last Congress which discriminate against the United State's overseas trade partners. A dispute about the treatment of citrus products 579W and pasta has been settled satisfactorily to both sides. The Community continues urgently to seek a solution to the major dispute with the United States over the terms of its enlargement. In respect of a number of other disputes the Community proposes to use to the full its rights to seek consultations and if necessary redress in GATT.
