§ Mrs. CurrieFrom information collected centrally since 1979 on capital schemes, each costing over £1 million, table (I) shows the number of completed schemes and table (II) the programmed schemes at the planning, design or construction stages with kitchens included in their functional contents. All these schemes replace or develop existing facilities, the great majority of which would have been built before 1956. This information must underestimate the true position because there are many upgrading schemes costing less than £1 million on which information is not readily available.
